Speech Day 2017
Speech Day is the most important event on the school calendar. This year, it was held on Friday 8th December 2017.

We were delighted and privileged to have Honorary Professor Tsang Yok-sing Jasper and his wife as our guests of honour.

An eminent alumnus of the College, Professor Tsang previously took office as President of the Legislative Council of HKSAR.In his address to the Class of 2017, Professor Tsang spoke of the life of a world-renowned revolutionary figure, the late Ernesto Guevara. He then focussed on a 19th-century alumnus of St. Paul’s College, Mr. Yeung Ku-wan, who was the president of the Hong Kong chapter of Hsing Chung Hui (the Revive China Society).

He reminded the graduates how Mr. Yeung, as a revolutionary leader in the late Qing Dynasty, stood up for justice and fought for the common good of people in China at the expense of his own life, as he was assassinated by an agent of the Qing Government.

Professor Tsang’s final instruction for the Class of 2017 was solemn and pertinent: he called for our graduates to uphold social justice as they embark on a new journey in their lives.

After his speech, we were honoured to have Mrs Tsang present certificates and awards to our graduates and prize-winners. In addition to this, the audience was treated with a musical performance by the College Concert Band.

As is the tradition at St. Paul’s College, the annual jovial event concluded with the singing of the College Song to the rousing tunes, once again, played by the Concert Band.
