Christmas Carol Service 2019

The College Christmas Carol Service took place at St. John’s Cathedral on the morning of 19 December 2019.

The service was a solemn yet joyful time of worship with the whole College coming together to celebrate the birth of our Lord Saviour.

Led by the Reverend Franklin Lee, the whole congregation engaged in praising the Lord in song and prayer.

The liturgy of the Word centred on the nativity story, which was retold by the readers, Ryan Chan (6A), Joshua Cheng (5A), Justin Chan (5E) and Daniel Chan (5A), and by the Principal Mr Dennis Yuen. In between the bible readings were two soul-lifting hymns sung by our Chapel Choir.

The homily was given by Reverend Lee. He encouraged our students not to let anyone look down on them because they are young, and exhorted them to lead a life based on the four watchwords of the College: justice, honour, truth and virtue.

The carol service concluded with prayers led by Head Prefect Adrian Chan (6B) and a blessing from the Principal. The festive spirit of Christmas filled the cathedral when the congregation raised their voices singing the recessional hymn, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”.

Christmas is a time of love and giving. Let us spread our love and joy to people around us, especially the forgotten and the underprivileged in our community.

As the school breaks up for the Christmas holiday, we wish our students and their families a joyful Christmas and a blessed New Year filled with bliss and peace!
